HACCP (HAZARD ANALYSIS CRITICAL CONTROL POINTS)

HACCP is a systematic approach to the identification, evaluation, and control of food safety hazards based on the following seven principles: conduct a hazard analysis, determine the critical control points (CCP's), establish critical limits, establish monitoring procedures, establish corrective actions, establish verification procedures, establish record-keeping and documentation procedures.

 

HEALTH CANADA

Health Canada is the Federal department responsible for helping Canadians maintain and improve their health, while respecting individual choices and circumstances. 

 

HIGH COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES

High-complex carbohydrates are made up of sugar molecules that are strung together in long, complex chains. Complex carbohydrates are found in foods such as peas, beans, whole grains, and vegetables. Both simple and complex carbohydrates are turned to glucose (blood sugar) in the body and are used as energy.

 

HIGH PALATABLE

Highly palatable are products that are acceptable or agreeable to the palate or taste.

 

HOLISTIC

Holistic means encompassing the whole of a thing, and not just the part. Holistic medicine looks at the whole animal or person for answers, not just the physical symptoms. You might have heard of holistic medicine, which tries to treat someone as mind and body, instead of treating only part of the patient that is most sick.

 

HORMONES

Hormones are chemical substances that act like messenger molecules in the body. After being made in one part of the body, they travel to other parts of the body where they help control how cells and organs do their work. For example, insulin is a hormone that's made by the beta cells in the pancreas.

 

HOTSPOTS

Hotspots are a skin condition where an acute onset of a patch of rd, inflamed itchy skin caused by severe scratching at a body site, they may have created a "hot spot". This skin condition is termed pyotraumatic dermatisis, or acute moist dermatitis, and often affects the neck, base of the ear, rump, or area of the trunk.

 

HUMAN GRADE

Human grade is the quality of a finished product that is legally suitable and approved for consumption by a person.

 

HYPOALLERGENIC

Hypoallergenic means that something causes fewer allergic reactions.
